Caraval-Book Review

Caraval (Caraval, #1)

Remember, it’s only a game…

Scarlett Dragna has never left the tiny island where she and her sister, Tella, live with their powerful, and cruel, father. Now Scarlett’s father has arranged a marriage for her, and Scarlett thinks her dreams of seeing Caraval—the faraway, once-a-year performance where the audience participates in the show—are over.

But this year, Scarlett’s long-dreamt-of invitation finally arrives. With the help of a mysterious sailor, Tella whisks Scarlett away to the show. Only, as soon as they arrive, Tella is kidnapped by Caraval’s mastermind organizer, Legend. It turns out that this season’s Caraval revolves around Tella, and whoever finds her first is the winner.

Scarlett has been told that everything that happens during Caraval is only an elaborate performance. Nevertheless she becomes enmeshed in a game of love, heartbreak, and magic. And whether Caraval is real or not, Scarlett must find Tella before the five nights of the game are over or a dangerous domino effect of consequences will be set off, and her beloved sister will disappear forever.

Welcome, welcome to Caraval…beware of getting swept too far away

My Thoughts

I didn’t expect anything from this book, This is that kind of book that grabs your attention from the first page till the end.

“Hope is a powerful thing. Some say it’s a different breed of magic altogether. Elusive, difficult to hold on to. But not much is needed.”

Caraval is the fantastical world which confuses the reality between game, A magical world with people completely lost in it, in tailcoats and dresses, twists and betrayals, who is a friend who is fae, what is the reality? what is the game? and If there is a game? Is there any of it? If there is how to know where it starts? the world setting was like magic dipped in honey.

This book made me realize that you can’t be too old to believe in magic or read books about it.

“Every person has the power to change their fate if they are brave enough to fight for what they desire more than anything.”

Scarlett, a naive girl who believes life exist in simple things, she is too afraid to take any adventure in her life, She loves her sister more than anything in the world and due to her end up in Caraval, biggest adventure of her life.

Julian, a twisted character

My thoughts

In the start—–He is annoying

In the middle—-I don’t trust him

In the end—-Awwwwww 😍

Donatella,

Me: She is annoying, she doesn’t care about her sister, she is such a selfish girl…

Donatella: Wait for the end girl 😈

Count: I am more mysterious than you think girl, you can’t guess I am bad or good.

Master Legend: You really think you’ll guess who I am (with a wicked smile).

There are twists around every corner and the end was a cliffhanger, Can’t wait to read the second book…I am completely in love with this magical world.

“No one is truly honest. Even if we don’t lie to others, we often lie to ourselves. And the word good means different things to different people.”
