FAN GIRL-BOOK REVIEW

16068905

Cath is a Simon Snow fan.

Okay, the whole world is a Simon Snow fan…

But for Cath, being a fan is her life—and she’s really good at it. She and her twin sister, Wren, ensconced themselves in the Simon Snow series when they were just kids; it’s what got them through their mother leaving. Reading. Rereading. Hanging out in Simon Snow forums, writing Simon Snow fan fiction, dressing up like the characters for every movie premiere.

Cath’s sister has mostly grown away from fandom, but Cath can’t let go. She doesn’t want to.

Now that they’re going to college, Wren has told Cath she doesn’t want to be roommates. Cath is on her own, completely outside of her comfort zone. She’s got a surly roommate with a charming, always-around boyfriend, a fiction-writing professor who thinks fan fiction is the end of the civilized world, a handsome classmate who only wants to talk about words… And she can’t stop worrying about her dad, who’s loving and fragile and has never really been alone.

For Cath, the question is: Can she do this? Can she make it without Wren holding her hand? Is she ready to start living her own life? Writing her own stories?

And does she even want to move on if it means leaving Simon Snow behind?

Fan Girl by Rainbow Rowell

Genre: YA/NA Contemporary

I still don’t know what to say, It was a huge disappointment.

I must say I am not a Fan of Fan Girl 💔

There was so much hype everywhere, I expected a lot from this one. It was my first Rainbow Rowell book and I must say I am considering to delete all the other from my TBR.
Maybe It was not for my taste Whatever, It took 5 days to complete it which is the longest for any book this year.

Although I liked the writing style, the story was not able to impress me. I felt there were many flaws, Ending was unsatisfactory.

Both Cath and Wren were miserable. I didn’t feel for Cath/Wren at any point, I just couldn’t.

What happened to Wren/Jandro Relationship? not clear

Dad/Daughter relation was one of the positive things.

I didn’t get Laura’s character, her absence or presence doesn’t matter at any point in the story.

Cath’s fiction class story should get more space.

I don’t know about Carry On or bazz/Simon, but I must say for me they were the worst part of this book…I have never been a fan of vampire stuff, in start I tried to read but halfway through the book I skipped all the fan-fiction
I tried really hard to connect it, but nothing worked for me.

Levi’ and Regan’s characters were like a cool breeze on a hot day.

Or Maybe I just accept that It was not my type, I literally saw everywhere people drolling on Fangirl.

P.S I don’t want to hurt anyone’s feeling but also I can’t sugar-coat my review.

You checked 31 out of 36 on this list!

Let’s Find Out Which “Game Of Thrones”–”Harry Potter” Hybrid House You Should Be In

You got: Ravenclaw-Tyrell

Kind, clever, smart, and one of a kind — this is how people often describe you. You have a wide variety of outstanding qualities, including being a person who people naturally gravitate toward. You’re great company at a party and are able to wow people with interesting knowledge and facts. However, you’re not someone people EVER want to double-cross. Instead of shaking off the negativity, your plan typically involves revenge. Nothing too extreme, but just personal enough to let others know never to mess with you. Friends and family who know you best are always amazed at your quick wit and humor, but you’re also a trustworthy person to confide in when others need to.

What’s your reading personality?

The All-Rounder

Your responses showed you fitting equally into all four reading personalities:

Involved ReaderYou don’t just love to read books, you love to read about books. For you, half the fun of reading is the thrill of the chase – discovering new books and authors, and discussing your finds with others.
Exacting ReaderYou love books but you rarely have as much time to read as you’d like – so you’re very particular about the books you choose.
Serial ReaderOnce you discover a favorite writer you tend to stick with him/her through thick and thin.
Eclectic ReaderYou read for entertainment but also to expand your mind. You’re open to new ideas and new writers, and are not wedded to a particular genre or limited range of authors.

Which classical character are you?

Result: You are Penelope

Loyal and patient you tend to avoid conflict. Everyone admires your restraint and elegance but sometimes you can be a bit of a doormat – but you never give up on someone you believe in.

What Book Genre Fits You Best?

Non-Fiction

You want the truth, and nothing but the truth. You don’t want to read about what possibly could have happened long ago, or made up thing about the future, past, or even present.

Which John Green Character are you?

Colin Singleton

Despite being a self-proclaimed genius, Colin had his fair share of ladies! Even if they are all named Katherine…and all dumped him.

What Should Your Bookish Job Be?

Right on! You’re a Writer.
Ideas come to you in your sleep. You’ve had more than one daydream about seeing your name embossed on the cover of a bestseller. You take notes wherever you go. And you’re ready to put in the work, spending long hours alone writing, writing, writing. The good news is you don’t need any special training or anyone to tell you to get started; you’re already a writer. Get to it!

How Obvious Is Your Love Of Books?

You checked off 33 out of 80 on this list!

You are a BOOK ZEN MASTER. You keep a nearly perfect balance between keeping some thoughts to yourself and sharing your book love with others.

I really Enjoyed this post, give it a chance, It is long but cool 😉

SYNOPSIS FROM GOODREADS

A healer who cannot be healed . . .

When Zivah falls prey to the deadly rose plague, she knows it’s only a matter of time before she fully succumbs. Now she’s destined to live her last days in isolation, cut off from her people and unable to practice her art—until a threat to her village creates a need that only she can fill.

A soldier shattered by war . . .

Broken by torture at the hands of the Amparan Empire, Dineas thirsts for revenge against his captors. Now escaped and reunited with his tribe, he’ll do anything to free them from Amparan rule—even if it means undertaking a plan that risks not only his life but his very self.

Thrust together on a high-stakes mission to spy on the capital, the two couldn’t be more different: Zivah, deeply committed to her vow of healing, and Dineas, yearning for vengeance. But as they grow closer, they must find common ground to protect those they love. And amidst the constant fear of discovery, the two grapple with a mutual attraction that could break both of their carefully guarded hearts.

This smart, sweeping fantasy with a political edge and a slow-burning romance will capture fans of The Lumatere Chronicles and An Ember in the Ashes.
