Throne of Glass-Book Review

Throne of Glass (Throne of Glass, #1)

After serving out a year of hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier for her crimes, 18-year-old assassin Celaena Sardothien is dragged before the Crown Prince. Prince Dorian offers her her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin.

Her opponents are men-thieves and assassins and warriors from across the empire, each sponsored by a member of the king’s council. If she beats her opponents in a series of eliminations, she’ll serve the kingdom for four years and then be granted her freedom. Celaena finds her training sessions with the captain of the guard, Westfall, challenging and exhilarating. But she’s bored stiff by court life. Things get a little more interesting when the prince starts to show interest in her … but it’s the gruff Captain Westfall who seems to understand her best.

Then one of the other contestants turns up dead … quickly followed by another. Can Celaena figure out who the killer is before she becomes a victim? As the young assassin investigates, her search leads her to discover a greater destiny than she could possibly have imagined.

About

“We all bear scars,… Mine just happen to be more visible than most.”

Celaena Sardothien, Adarlan’s best Assassin after getting betrayed and the result of that spent 1 year in Endovier, is back in Rifthold as Crown Prince Dorian’s Champion for King of Adarlan’s champion competition. She was such a spoilt girl, but Endovier death camps changed her…In the castle, she found things that she didn’t expect, there is a creature roaming around in castle murdering participants for Competition…There is magic(or something related to magic) in the castle of the king who destroyed all the magic of the world.

My Thoughts

Don’t like this series anymore

It was a fun-packed story, with a great plot, though it was slow at the start, after a while, it got better.

“My name is Celaena Sardothien. But it makes no difference if my name’s Celaena or Lillian or Bitch because I’d still beat you, no matter what you call me.”

I found Celaena’s character more interesting than Feyre, She is badass but kind, Broken but witty, Her sense of humor is my favorite, She still missed Sam that is natural. Sarah J Mass both heroines are a reader, Celaena is more avid though. There is more from her past that still has to reveal.

“Libraries were full of ideas—perhaps the most dangerous and powerful of all weapons.”

Prince Dorian, I am not rooting for him for sure, He is kind and a Prince, but there is something off about him, He is not brave enough to match Celaena, or in comparison to sam, I don’t want Dorian to replace him.

Chaol, I want to read more of him, we get to know his background but his feelings? they are missing, Clearly, he likes Celaena but something is bothering him except her being Assassin and Dorian’s interest in her. If one of them have to replace sam, I’ll root for Chaol, well he can’t replace him but he is a better choice than Dorian.

Princess Nehemia, I hope there will be more from her, she is only true friend Celaena got in her lonely and pitiful life.

P.s, I haven’t forgotten what Farran did to Sam, I still want him to skinned alive soon enough.
