When Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince opens, the war against Voldemort has begun. The Wizarding world has split down the middle, and as the casualties mount, the effects even spill over onto the Muggles. Dumbledore is away from Hogwarts for long periods, and the Order of the Phoenix has suffered grievous losses. And yet, as in all wars, life goes on.
Harry, Ron, and Hermione, having passed their O.W.L. level exams, start on their specialist N.E.W.T. courses. Sixth-year students learn to Apparate, losing a few eyebrows in the process. Teenagers flirt and fight and fall in love. Harry becomes captain of the Gryffindor Quidditch team, while Draco Malfoy pursues his own dark ends. And classes are as fascinating and confounding as ever, as Harry receives some extraordinary help in Potions from the mysterious Half-Blood Prince.
Most importantly, Dumbledore and Harry work together to uncover the full and complex story of a boy once named Tom Riddle—the boy who became Lord Voldemort. Like Harry, he was the son of one Muggle-born and one Wizarding parent, raised unloved, and a speaker of Parseltongue. But the similarities end there, as the teenaged Riddle became deeply interested in the Dark objects known as Horcruxes: objects in which a wizard can hide part of his soul, if he dares splinter that soul through murder.
Harry must use all the tools at his disposal to draw a final secret out of one of Riddle’s teachers, the sly Potions professor Horace Slughorn. Finally Harry and Dumbledore hold the key to the Dark Lord’s weaknesses… until a shocking reversal exposes Dumbledore’s own vulnerabilities, and casts Harry’s—and Hogwarts’s—future in shadow.

MY THOUGHTS
“It is the unknown we fear when we look upon death and darkness, nothing more.”
It took me forever to read this book, It is my only 2nd book of February, I got stuck in personal life, there were so many things going on…But I must give HP that whenever I start to read it even one chapter it always comes to me easily, doesn’t matter how bad is reading slump.
“Let us step into the night and pursue that flighty temptress, adventure.”
I am loving how the characters are developing in front of my eyes, I can feel them getting mature, taking responsibilities, showing courage, learning something…It didn’t happen in one night, It is happening in front of my eyes from last books…The flow of the story couldn’t be more natural.
“Dumbledore says people find it far easier to forgive others for being wrong than being right.”
My one of the most favorite thing about this series is that, As it getting darker everyone seems to improve their sense of humor, especially Harry 😀
P.s I can’t see myself supporting Snape, Let’s see if the last book will be able to change my opinion.
P.s.s Hopefully, I’ll be able to read like before soon 🙂
As always you write the reviews well. I did enjoy this book but it’s harder as it’s darker

I think J.K. Rowling did an amazing job or maturing her characters as the years went on. This has made it easy for me to love it far into adulthood. I will never outgrow these books!

Half-Blood Prince would have been my favorite book in the series, but I never cared for the way the book ended. The last fifty pages felt really rushed given how many important things were happening.

I was thinking the same that She didn’t drag things unnecessarily…

This is a much darker story and it only get darker, but so well written. If Goblet of Fire is my favourite book, then Deathly Hallows runs a close second. This is my favourite book series of all time and I am so pleased that you are enjoying it so much too.
