Wild Beauty-Book Review

Wild BeautyLove grows such strange things.

For nearly a century, the Nomeolvides women have tended the grounds of La Pradera, the lush estate gardens that enchant guests from around the world. They’ve also hidden a tragic legacy: if they fall in love too deeply, their lovers vanish. But then, after generations of vanishings, a strange boy appears in the gardens.

The boy is a mystery to Estrella, the Nomeolvides girl who finds him, and to her family, but he’s even more a mystery to himself; he knows nothing more about who he is or where he came from than his first name. As Estrella tries to help Fel piece together his unknown past, La Pradera leads them to secrets as dangerous as they are magical in this stunning exploration of love, loss, and family.

MY THOUGHTS

I got this book from a giveaway I didn’t have any idea what this is about while starting it, Yes I don’t bother to read description mostly, I only knew one thing that cover is pretty and I got a signed book 😁

“Even in its first faint traces, love could alter a landscape. It wrote unimagined stories and made the most beautiful, forbidding places.”

I finished it in one day because the writing was beautiful as well as world-building, It was so easy to just get into this world. It is a dark fantasy which is overfilled with flowery prose. There were way too many names for me to remember, as they didn’t get that much attention.

If I talk about the story there was less story more details and too many details, It was boring and annoying, In the first half there weren’t many things happened and the pace was so slow, that’s the reason I skimmed a lot because I wasn’t interested in reading about flowers and flowers, last 60 pages pulled me back. The ending was one of the positive things about this book, as there were at least some progress in the story.

I couldn’t connect to characters, any of them. I didn’t care about what is happening to any of them. I just wanted it to finish.

“Everyone is broken. The only difference is how.”

Great review, shame it wasn’t amazing – I barely ever read blurbs either I like to be completely surprised by where the book goes. My checklist goes author I know or have heard a lot about? pretty cover? genre I feel like reading? – 2 or more yes’s and I’m in, not fool proof but served me well thus far.

    1. Thank you, I rarely read blurbs, pretty covers, known authors, popular series, GR ratings, these are the factors I mostly count 😁
