The Mortal War is over, and sixteen-year-old Clary Fray is back home in New York, excited about all the possibilities before her. She’s training to become a Shadowhunter and to use her unique power. Her mother is getting married to the love of her life. Downworlders and Shadowhunters are at peace at last. And—most importantly of all—she can finally call Jace her boyfriend.
But nothing comes without a price.
Someone is murdering Shadowhunters, provoking tensions between Downworlders and Shadowhunters that could lead to a second, bloody war. Clary’s best friend, Simon, can’t help her—his mother just found out that he’s a vampire, and now he’s homeless. When Jace begins to pull away from her without explaining why, Clary is forced to delve into the heart of a mystery whose solution reveals her worst nightmare: she herself has set in motion a terrible chain of events that could lead to her losing everything she loves. Even Jace.

*spoilers for those who haven’t read other books of series *
“You’re the first Shadowhunter I’ve ever met.”
“That’s too bad,” said Jace, “since all the others you meet from now on will be a terrible letdown.”
This is my favourite one from this series so far. I loved the characters development, main focus of this book was Simon, Vampire Simon is so much better than human Simon, also the other characters got the limelight, it was like Clary, Jace and Valentine were stealing everyone’s 😀
After knowing Izzie background, it is now much easy to connect with her characters.
“Hearts are breakable,” Isabelle said. “And I think even when you heal, you’re never what you were before”.”
And yes I am shipping for Maia and Jordon.
First time in this series Alic was likeable, and Magnus as always, He is so cool and difficult to hate.
I must say I like Jace and Simon better now when they are not more biting each other and their sense of humour is much improved.
I was guessing Sebastian to be Villain in this book and I am happy he wasn’t, at least in this one.
This book was more explaining Vampire’s lifestyle and seriously Simon is so bad as a Vampire.
I know it is not but I found that scene hilarious when Simon drink Mauren’s blood 😂😂😂
Jace and Clary’s relationship is getting better. In this book lot of Ships sailed or are in the way, and I am relieved…Phew…there will be less relationship drama in next books.
“Or maybe it’s just that beautiful things are so easily broken by the world.”
